The Next Generation of Quillaja Extracts, Built for More Natural Food Production

Plantae Labs is a Chilean producer and manufacturer of Quillaja saponaria extracts and natural solutions for the animal feed, agriculture and food & beverage industries. Founded by the entrepreneurs behind Chile Botanics, we combine more than a decade of Quillaja expertise with our own production plant in Los Ángeles, in-house R&D and quality control labs, and proprietary formulation technologies.

Hans Konsens and Juan Jose Albarran founded Chile Botanics in 2011. The company became a global leader in the production and commercialization of Quillaja Extract for the food & beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries, revolutionizing the Quillaja market with state-of-the-art processing technology while keeping the production process fully sustainable. Chile Botanics went from an R&D start-up to a global leader in less than six years. In 2018, Naturex (part of the Givaudan Group) acquired 100% of Chile Botanics, and both founders sold their shares in order to pursue new adventures, taking with them their experience in Quillaja extraction, processing and commercialization.

They went on to start Plantae Labs to combat the excessive use of antibiotics and synthetic pesticides in global food production. Extensive research on the ability of botanicals to fight different types of illnesses in humans, animals, and plants made them realize the enormous potential of Quillaja to replace antibiotics in feed and synthetic pesticides in agriculture. By combining cutting-edge delivery technologies used in the pharmaceutical industry with different natural botanicals, they created formulas that are potent, stable, and efficient. The animal and field studies showed revolutionary results.

Today, Plantae Labs produces liquid and powder Quillaja extracts at its plant in Los Ángeles, Chile, for animal nutrition, agriculture and food applications. Backed by our R&D and quality control labs, we supply customers in international markets.

Quality Controls Labs

We have a solid industrial and R&D department. Our headquarters are situated in Santiago, Chile. Our R&D and quality control labs are equipped with cutting-edge technology, which allows us to develop, standardize and quantify our Quillaja extracts and new natural formulas.

Our Quillaja extracts are produced at our manufacturing facility in Los Ángeles, Bío-Bío Region, strategically located in an area with abundant Quillaja forest. The plant produces liquid and powder Quillaja saponaria extracts for animal nutrition, agriculture, and food applications.

Each batch is standardized and analyzed in our in-house R&D and quality control labs, from extraction to finished ingredient.
